The Recon 985sc with a Evinrude Etec 200H.O. is the best boat I’ve ever owned. As a professional fisherman /prostaffer for Take A Vet Fishing, I spent over 100 days on the water in 2015. My line of work takes me from Kentucky to Canada and everywhere in between. I’ve had hundreds of people in my Recon on a huge variety of lakes and rivers. Whether I’m on Lake Mille Lacs, Green Bay or the Mississippi river, this boat performs flawlessly and provides me and my heroic guests a smooth riding, stable fishing platform that is second to none. Launching and recovering the Recon is almost effortless with the EZ-Loader custom trailer. This for me is a huge plus because 99% of the time I launch and recover the boat myself. Recon and its dealers like Lake County Water Sports, located in Wauconda, IL are a direct reflection of the product they produce and sell. The quality of materials used in the Recon, the attention to detail used in the manufacturing process and the genuine concern for the performance of the boat and trailer after the sale spoke volumes.
Very few Europeans dare to buy a boat directly from a US constructor. I did with Recon. One of the best decisions I ever made. Not only did I want to buy a boat directly but I wanted to have it tailor made. Although we never met before, thousands of miles apart, and therefore perfect strangers to each other, John proved to be an invaluable help. Knowledgeable, true craftsman and above all 100% trustworthy. My 785 SC is a great, great boat. A boat one can bond with. It should last forever, but if not, my next boat will again be a Recon. My friends considered me a fool when I started off this project. Now, they envy me. Recon: good people, fine people.
"I don't think I'll ever own another boat brand. My Recon is exactly what I was looking for."
My 985 Recon not only allows me to fish the largest Wisconsin waters including the Bay of Green Bay and Lake Winnebago, but I can do it with ease. From trolling to casting this multi species boat does it all. The large rod lockers and many storage compartments hold all the gear I need for a long day chasing walleyes.
What I like most about Recon is their lifetime guarantee on the hulll. I have been in some the roughest waters and hold little back. My 985 looks as good today as it did the day I bought it.
“I’m PROUD to say that I’m ordering my 3rd Recon boat in 2016! Recon Boats is the “official boat” and big supporter of our US Military Veterans and Take a Vet Fishing, NFP. I’ve partnered with John Johnson and Recon Boats for several years and their product just keeps getting better! As a muli-species angler and Pro Muskie fisherman, Recon Boats offers “creature comforts” that you cannot find in some of the bigger named competitive brands. The “personal service” I received from John and his team of dealers cannot be matched by any other line of boats. I needed a boat that I could “slip” into smaller lakes, yet big enough to handle big water. Recon gives me EXACTLY that boat! The quality of construction is second to none. Each boat is hand made in Iola, Wisconsin with quality craftsmen – These boats are NOT mass produced off an assembly line. The VALUE is unmatched by any other brand in the market. I’m happy to say that I will be in a Recon Boat for MANY years to come!”
I am a HUGE fan of Recon Boats. You can tell that these boats were designed and built by someone who actually fishes. Recon Boats are fishing machines in every respect. An amazingly smooth ride over rough waters. Superb storage capacity including the best rod box in the industry. Plus a casting deck 2nd to none. Recon Boats are by far the best boats Ive ever fished out of. Period!
We are really impressed with the stability and performance of this hull design. The fit and finish on the inside is equally as impressive. Great attention to detail. With big and small features you don't get with other brands. We have Pro-Staff running both Evinrude and Mercury motors on the Recon and they love it, and they are on the water 300+ days a year. I could go on, but why not come and see for yourself. Thanks John. Keep it up!
